Interview by Ari Whitten for his podcast: The Energy Blueprint Meditation…What are your thoughts when you hear that word? Many immediately imagine Buddhist monks or hippies sitting together singing Kumbayah. It can be overwhelming thinking about incorporating meditation into your busy work and family life, but what if I told you about a twice-daily practice of meditating for 20 minutes that increases your performance and helps you overcome fatigue?
This week I talked to Emily Fletcher, the founder of Ziva Meditation. Emily was living her childhood dream working as an understudy on Broadway when it turned out that her dream was making her miserable. She ended up stressed out and unable to sleep — riddled with insomnia for 18 months. She was not able to perform the way she wanted to onstage, and at 26, her hair was turning gray.
One day, inspired by a coworker who seemed to have it all figured out, Emily learned to meditate in a class, and that night she slept through the night for the first time in 18 months. She left Broadway behind and traveled to India to study meditation. Today, Emily’s insomnia and gray hairs are both things of the past. She founded Ziva Meditation, where she teaches the art of meditation to thousands of people, including Oscar, Grammy, and Tony award winners.
