From Emily: How I Became a Meditation Teacher

If you’ve been saying to yourself, “I really need to commit to a daily meditation practice but now feels way too busy… maybe another time” – I want to tell you a story that completely changed my life… and it all came about after a huge leap of faith.

I was 28 years old, living in LA and I was still performing on Broadway at this time. I had been meditating for about 2 years and had dove head first into Vedic philosophy.

One night, I was at a group meditation at my teacher’s house and he had this piece of art on the wall. It was a gorgeous oil painting of the sunrise coming up over this bridge.

I asked him where it was and he said it was taken in Rishikesh, India. He told me how magical it is there. How the people are so present, how you can swim in the Ganges river and meditate in the ashrams. And he said that he was hosting a retreat there and asked me to come along.

I said no, I can’t do that! I can’t just up and go to India in a few weeks. I have work to do and bills to pay. He said ok.

And then I Iooked back at that painting and as if someone else had come through my body and was speaking through my mouth, I heard myself say, “Actually, I will come.”

Cut to a few weeks later, I am having the time of my life in India. I feel so connected to Source. I am dancing and laughing and singing and meditating and feel more alive than I had in years.

One morning we took a hike at sunrise, and as I’m walking along I notice we’re approaching a bridge.

And suddenly I’m standing there.

I’m standing in front of THE bridge at sunrise, and the sun is in the exact same spot as in the painting.

With clarity I knew, the me in that moment had traveled back to the me in that LA apartment and pushed me to GO. To do it. To take the leap. To say yes.

I made a video where I share this story and a bit more about my training. You can watch it here.

That moment on the bridge kicked off my 3 year teacher training that led me to start teaching the Ziva Technique. It was the catalyst that transformed me from a Broadway showgirl to a meditation teacher.

And if I hadn’t taken that leap, if I hadn’t said yes despite my better judgment, my life may look completely different right now.

That’s why if any part of you is stirring and you hear a little voice saying “maybe now is the time,” it might be future YOU pushing you towards your dreams and goals.

Because fast forward to a year from now, you could still be struggling to stay afloat…

Or you could be living with profound purpose, clarity and ease, trusting that you are powerful beyond measure.

Now is the time to step into your full potential. So if you’re ready to take the leap and truly start a practice you will love, you can click here to enroll in zivaONLINE — our 15 day meditation training.
