Superfood Recipe: Soothing Golden Milk

by Kelsey Mathes, Ziva Meditation Teacher + Nutrition Expert

This is an adaptation of a classic anti-inflammatory drink called Golden Milk. My version also helps to ease digestion and promote liver health. It’s also lovely to have before bed to unwind before drifting into dreamland.

When combined with a good raw fat (like coconut milk / oil) and black pepper, turmeric becomes much more absorbable to our body. So the base recipe of Golden Milk combines all these ingredients.
When you add in the optional ingredients, you get even more benefits.

I suggest raw local honey, particularly during allergy season, as it’s a great treatment for seasonal allergies. Ideally this means honey sourced from within an hour or so of where you live.

Optional add-ins raw Apple Cider Vinegar and lemon juice boost your metabolism and promote liver function for effective detoxification.

Working late?
Perfect to have warm but not boiled, instead of a late dinner, if you get home from the office too close to bedtime for a full meal.

Overindulged?
Try this if you’re coming home from drinking, or having had a dinner with lots of breads / pasta or dessert. The good fats and ACV / lemon will help the body to process the excess sugar so that you can prevent pizza bloat or a hangover.
