Max Lugavere, Wellness Expert, Learns Meditation

Max Lugavere is the 33-year-old director of an upcoming documentary titled BREAD HEAD, which explores the impact of diet and lifestyle on brain health. He’s hosted content for WebMD, Vice/MUNCHIES, and Yahoo Health and is a recurring guest on The Dr. Oz Show. He’s also one of our favorite experts and a leading voice in the brain and wellness space.

Plus, he just learned to meditate. Here’s what he had to say about learning to meditate at Ziva with our founder Emily Fletcher, and how meditation can contribute to decreased risk of disease:

Not only is Max “super excited to now have this [meditation practice] for the rest of my life,” but he had plenty to say about how meditation can help with disease prevention.

“What has dawned in the scientific literature over the past couple of years is the idea that chronic inflammation is really a major driver if not an initiator of many of the chronic diseases that we see plaguing modern society from obesity to Type II Diabetes to even brain diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Research has shown that by meditating you can actually reduce this chronic inflammation in your body so you can actually reduce your risk for these diseases by meditating.”
